‘Startup Education and Enterprise Development’  (SEED)

This is a programme which is designed specifically for mature students with a business concept which they would like to develop. It will provide the students with the necessary business skills, knowledge and supports to develop their idea through its incubation phase.

The College is seeking persons with a knowledge based business idea which they would like the opportunity to develop and explore the potential to trade in the marketplace.

The aim is to select learners from diverse backgrounds and experience with a business idea and offer them access to a programme which will offer them the opportunity to develop the concept through an incubation phase.

During the programme modules in the following areas will be delivered which will be certified at FETAC Level 5 and 6.

  • Start Your own Business
  • Business Administration
  • Marketing Practices
  • Personal Effectiveness in the Workplace
  • Information Technology and Computer Applications Skills
  • Entrepreneurial Studies
  • Mentoring Workshops

In delivering these modules all the research on the assignments will be based on the business which each individual is developing.

While the actual module delivery time will be of the order of 10 hours per week, the participants will be given access to a hot desk (computer, phone, photocopier etc..)  for the remainder of the week. This will allow them to access the College facilities and resources. Furthermore the participants on the programme will have access to mentors with relevant business experience to help with their business development.

The College will also seek out relevant guest speakers to motivate and provide workshops to the programme participants.
