National Learning Network is Ireland's leading provider of inclusive training, inclusive education and employment access services. We have over 50 years experience working in the area of disability and training for employment or further education. We assist learners to learn the skills they need to build lasting careers in jobs that reflect their interests and abilities. As Ireland's largest non-government training organisation with over 50 training locations, we offer over 40 different training courses and are a FETAC accredited provider.
Our person-centred approach to training is at the heart of everything we do, this is reflected in our Individual Action Plans which mean that each learner is central to the process and to the service that we provide. No fees apply to any National Learning Network courses. There are also no formal entry requirements, although learners must be aged over 16 years. Learners may be admitted to courses continually during the year.
Under the National Development Plan the majority of our courses are funded through Fás and the Health Service Executive and therefore students receive an allowance for participation in our courses. You can access National Learning Network’s wide range of training programmes in a variety of ways:
- in your local centre
- with a local employer
- from the comfort of your home.
In addition to our centre-based courses, learners can avail of employer-based training (EBT) with host companies. Under EBT programmes, learners with the support for the course co-ordinator acquire their skills in the vocational area of their choice in the workplace.
National Learning Network also offers distance learning courses which enable learners, particularly those with mobility difficulties, to study from their own home.
National Learning Network offers nationally recognised qualifications to learners in all its courses countrywide including FETAC, ECDL and City & Guilds covering a wide range of personal development and vocational skills. The organisation is a major provider of FETAC awards at all levels on the National Qualifications Framework and issues over 4,000 awards annually.
Our training courses offer awards at levels 1 to 5 on the framework. We encourage learners to progress to higher levels and learners can use minor awards already obtained to contribute towards a major award through Recognition of Prior Learning. All major FETAC Awards include two compulsory modules: work experience and communications.
Our Continuous Professional Development courses, offered by National Learning Network's Learning and Assessment Services, provide certification at level 6 of the National Qualifications Framework and the work experience module is replaced by a work placement module.
