Entry/Exemptions

Entry to the Elevation Programme is open to holders of undergraduate degrees, and graduates of our sister body, IATI. In addition, 4 years work experience is required.

Chartered Accountants Ireland offers attractive exemptions based on prior examinations. If you have a relevant business degree, you may be exempt from all, or part, of CAP1. Those holding a recognised Masters in Accounting can claim exemption from all of CAP2. There are no exemptions from the FAE.

Flexibility is especially important for those returning to education after a number of years. You can study CAP1 and CAP2 on a modular basis, choosing to study all subjects in an academic year, or to study two subjects at a time, over different years. Exams can also be split between summer and autumn sittings.

To claim exemptions, students must have a 2.2 honours degree or better.

Exemptions are subject to a time limit of ten years from undergraduate qualification.
