What is it for?

The goal of this programme is to provide learners with the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake a wide range of IT system maintenance and administration tasks.

Where can I go from here?

Learners who successfully complete the Certificate in IT System Maintenance may accumulate credit towards the attainment of awards in any of the following areas:

  • IT Support and Management (NFQ levels 6,7,8)
  • Software Development (NFQ 6,7,8,9)
  • Computer Networking (NFQ levels 8,9)

What does it do?

Provides an entry point to IT careers for unemployed persons who hold NFQ level 4/5 qualifications. Creates a conversion opportunity for those who hold non-IT qualifications.

What are the entry requirements?

Leaving Certificate or other relevant learning. Mature students will be considered for entry based on an assessment of their aptitude and interest in this field of study.

What are the employment opportunities?

The course provides learners with the opportunity to pursue careers in areas such as IT support and management, software development and computer networking, all of which will contribute directly or indirectly to the specific skill needs of exporting sectors and the realisation of the Smart Economy. It also leads to major awards at levels 6, 7 and 8.
