Cork Institute of Technology Announces New Opportunities for the Unemployed
CIT has developed a number of short, flexible, part-time courses aimed at enhancing career prospects and employability skills.

Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) has developed a number of short, flexible, part-time courses aimed at enhancing career prospects and employability skills. These courses are targeted at people with workplace experience who are currently unemployed.
All of the courses are designed to allow progression into full awards at the appropriate level. Courses are offered in a range of disciplines including:
- IT Systems Maintenance
- Process Control and Automation
- Sustainable Energy Systems
- Engineering Technology
- Entrepreneurship and Business
- Good Manufacturing Practice
The courses are supported as part of a joint initiative by the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment, the Department of Education and Science and the Higher Education Authority.
The courses will run for two semesters from September 2009 to May 2010 and the attendance requirement is just two days a week for the thirteen teaching weeks of each semester.
Successful completion will result in an award on the National Framework of Qualifications. Persons with suitable experience may be eligible to apply to have their prior learning recognised in respect of elements of the courses.
Individuals who are in receipt of Jobseekers Allowance and Jobseekers Benefit may continue to receive their benefits while participating in these free part-time courses.
