DIT Foundation Certificate in Engineering - Level 6
Colaiste Dhulaigh offer a one year access course run in partnership with DIT. It prepares students for entry into the first year of the engineering degree courses in Bolton Street and Kevin Street Colleges of Technology.
Students will be eligible for entry into one of the following Honours Degree Level 8 programmes:
- Computer Engineering (FT281)
- Electronic/Electrical Engineering (FT221)
- Engineering (FT125)
- Transport Technology (FT128)
Course Content
Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, Mechanics, Communications, Computers and CAD, Engineering Workshop.
CERTIFICATION
Awarding Body DIT
Examinations and assessments are conducted in conjunction with DIT. All students who pass each course subject will gain a place on one of the engineering degree courses in Bolton Street or Kevin Street as specified above.
DURATION
1 Year
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Leaving Certificate (Grade C1 minimum in Ordinary Level Mathematics) and interview.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The majority of students continue their studies on Engineering degree courses at the DIT. Some find employment in light engineering, draughting offices and electronic industries.
COLLEGE LINKS
The course is monitored and all exams are set with the Dublin Institute of Technology. Students who pass the course will be offered a place on an engineering degree course in Kevin St or Bolton St, DIT.
