IT Teacher Training with eLearning and TEFL
IT teaching and training is a thriving profession
IT teaching and training is a thriving profession. There is a high level demand for re-training and updating ICT and WP skills in line with developing technologies.
Continuous learning is no longer achieved in traditional ways only, therefore, learning needs to be increasingly supported and enhanced by technology. This has led to the inclusion of eLearning as part of this course.
The TEFL qualification is offered in addition to the IT Teacher Training Diplomas.
Careers in Teaching
What does a JEB/EDI teaching qualification mean?
Graduates joining the teaching profession will greatly enhance their employability with this qualification. JEB/EDI certification provides graduates who already hold a degree with additional teaching subjects in Information Technology (IT).
Graduates who hold only JEB/EDI qualifications may currently be employed as unqualified part-time day teachers or as part-time adult education/night class teachers.
Graduates who successfully complete the TEFL section of the course will be awarded a Certificate in English Language Teaching (CELT) from the Advisory Council for English Language Schools (ACELS) which qualifies them to teach English as a foreign language.
Careers in Business
Many degree holders aspire to careers in business, industry, commerce, and the public service. By achieving JEB/EDI qualifications, graduates develop proficiency in specialist computer skills, which will enhance their career prospects.
Careers in Training
Opportunities exist in companies as in-house trainers or as external consultants.
Self-Employment
With the proliferation in the use of computers in homes and businesses, there is great scope for self-employment.
Course Structure
This course will prepare students for internationally recognised qualifications, certified by the Joint Examining Board/Education Development International (JEB/EDI) and the Advisory Council for English Language Schools (ACELS). Students gain an in-depth knowledge of software packages as well as the expertise to teach and train others.
Teaching Practice
Teaching practice is a mandatory part of this course. Students are required to undertake 6 hours of teaching practice for the JEB/EDI awards. Teaching practice is also required for the TEFL award. The cost is borne by the College, however, TP is provided only for students who meet specified attendance and performance criteria, as determined by the College.
