There is currently a skills shortage in Ireland for computer engineering technicians, this one-year full-time conversion course is designed to address this. It offers students the opportunity to find employment in the ever expanding computer and software industry.

Graduates of this course are valuable to prospective employers as they are multi-disciplined technicians, a recruitment skill-preference which is accelerating in the computer industry.

The overall aim of this conversion course is to:

Prepare a technician for a career in the computer industry;
Provide students with the necessary theory to enable them to transfer to an appropriate National Diploma course.

Minimum Entry Requirements

Holders of a Higher Certificate in Engineering in Computing and Information Technolgy Support
or
Higher Certificate in engineering (non-electronics/computer engineering qualifications)
or
Higher Certificate in Science
or
an equivalent Level 6 qualification

Software Development, Computer Networks, Computer Technology, Digital Electronics, Computer Aided Engineering, Mathematics, Project

Progression

Graduates of this Higher Certificate are eligible to apply to join the Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Engineering (Levl 7) at this institute or other related programmes at other third-level institutions.
